Michał Maśluszczak

Technical Department Manager

I joined Firefly in 2019 as a TPL, bringing experience in designing, executing, and supervising the construction of classic I&HAS systems, video surveillance systems, and fire alarm systems. My journey at Firefly began with a few weeks working alongside service engineers, commissioning new systems and servicing existing ones. This hands-on experience was invaluable, as it allowed me to understand how the systems I would be designing actually operated. Being the only TPL in the Central and Eastern Europe division at the time, every project went through my hands. It was challenging initially, as seeing a system in operation versus designing it requires understanding the specifics of the process being secured, making agreements with customers, and handling extensive desk work. However, by closely collaborating with the service engineers, risk management, and installation teams, I quickly improved the quality and speed of design development. This progress enabled me to transition from working on simple projects to tackling more complex ones. The most important aspect for me was always having someone to consult with, whether to clarify doubts, seek help, or ensure the system worked as intended once built according to the design.

I see that the work I do is valuable and essential. Of course, there are times when things don’t work as expected—we may need to improve the installation, delve deeper into the production process, and make adjustments. Sometimes there are misunderstandings, doubts, or fatigue. But often, there is customer satisfaction, praise for a job well done, and compliments on the efficiency and speed of our system. We frequently receive footage showing how our system responded and saved production at a customer’s site. These moments make me appreciate my work even more, bringing joy in knowing someone’s safety has been secured. It drives me to keep pushing forward.

For those considering an interview at Firefly, I can confidently say it’s worth exploring whether your skills align with what the company needs. While many people work in TPL positions, anyone can develop their passions and specialize in a very narrow field if they choose. Production line security may not be a simple job, but it touches on many branches of science, offering opportunities to work with documents, perform calculations, engage in programming, and collaborate with clients. There’s room for site visits, making drawings, and much more—everyone can find their passion and realize their potential in this field.
