A day in the Human Resources Department

Not one day at HR looks the same. That is what I like about the job. I don’t know what I will be faced with that day when I arrive at the office. What I do know is that I will always meet inspiring people, whether it be my current colleagues or a potential new colleague.
I usually start my workday by checking our recruitment system for new applications and any updates in the recruitment processes. As we are expanding, we have a lot of opportunities for new people to join our company, so it usually takes a while to look through them all.
For us, it’s important that we hire the right people. Therefore, we make a thorough evaluation of every application and candidate that we meet. We want our candidates to be sure that Firefly is a place where they will thrive and enjoy their work, but we also want to make sure that we feel the same thing about the candidate we decide to hire.
My days involve interviews, discussions with hiring managers, and encounters with my wonderful colleagues at the coffee machines or in a scheduled meeting.
At the HR-department we are in contact with every part of the company, which is what makes every day different. One day we are handling a HR-related question, the next day I’m interviewing a potential new assembler and the day after I’m speaking to students at a career fair. There’s always a new project going on.
During lunchbreaks there’s always an interesting subject being discussed, and I love how open everyone is to share their experiences and knowledge, regarding both work and non-work related subjects. I think it’s a great way to build stronger teams.
When I leave the office at the end of the day I always leave with a good feeling in my stomach because I know that what we are doing is something good. We are actually making an impact, by minimising the risk of fires we are literally saving lives.
