Polarbröd is a family business, that have been baking bread for five generations.
On August 23, 2020, around 10.30 PM, a fire broke out at Polarbröd’s bakery in Älvsbyn, a fire that had devastating consequences. The fire began in connection to an oven, and burning materials were transported undetected into the 50-meter-long enclosed cooling conveyor located near the ceiling in the production facility.
On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, the bakery was reopened by Crown Princess Victoria at a solemn ceremony – 625 days after the fire that completely destroyed the facility.
When Polarbröd rebuilt its operations, there was a strong emphasis on fire safety and the selection of suppliers, where Firefly were chosen to be a part of the new fire protection system.
